Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice condition turn of the 20th century Spanish American War Era New York "Hudson Brigade" Dress Shako helmet. The pressed, black felt is in very good condition, though there are some dents and a hole on the back side. It has some lovely dark green piping over a gray exterior, with black patent leather on the top and around the bottom. As is usual, the black finish now shows some lovely checking and crazing from age.

The front visor still has some of the original edge leather, though much has fallen off, and the visor itself is now partly detached from the front, as the stitching has rotted out. Interior leather sweatband has slight wear but is still quite supple.

The front features a lovely HUDSON BRIGADE plate, with a large wreath around the number 2, which could be for the company, or for the regiment that the brigade was numbered as. There is also a half gray half yellow plume still installed on the front of the helmet.

We unfortunately have not been able to turn up much information on the Hudson Brigade from research, but we assume it was one of many New York State or Local military groups.
